Offered at $580.- SOLD
Offering a 19th century Chinese hand carved rosewood and burled exotic wood chair. The construction certainly points to the mid 19th century, as the chair was constructed with wooden pegs, noticeable on the joining of the arms and back. There are nails, which were likely added when the chair was fitted with a replacement caned seat. The nails appear to be of early 20th century vintage. Given it’s age, there are a couple splits in the wood, which do not impact it’s function. A lovely chair with plenty of antique charm. Strong and complete! The Ivory and exotic wood inlays are finely detailed and show a figure climbing a tree limb. There appears to be an older repair to the head of the figure, which isn’t Ivory, but is very presentable and blends in rather well. One small area of a tree branch detail also appears to have an older repair present. The overall shape and fine hand-carved details are unique and very beautiful. It would certainly give a warm handmade antique presence to any decor. A rare 19th century piece of Chinese furniture. It has a bespoke feel. It’s a comfortable chair to sit in, but is most definitely a decorative piece and mean’t to be admired.

Offered at $995.-  Was $1295.- SOLD

A 1920′s full size Mahogany Victrola VV-XIa. It’s complete with the motor working well. The motor had been taken out and cleaned, including the motor springs. It plays very well. The motor governor has a missing counter weight, which means after winding it up, the turntable just needs a light push to get it going. The springs hold a fantastic amount of energy, giving this Victrola an excellent amount of playing time. Mechanically it will play records for a very longtime to come.

The mahogany case to this Victrola has an original finish, which shines nicely. It has normal wear, dings and scratches to the finish. The original lacquer fiinsh has some cracked areas, but this is to be expected of an old finish. It shows very nicely. The Victrola has been cleaned and waxed with a fine museum wax, giving it a fantastic shine! Definitely a very solid fully functional Victrola. The bright work is excellent and the nickel plating is exceptionally well preserved.

The Victrola comes with a 1927 music catalog, some needles and a few records. A very enjoyable piece!

A late 18th century English oak sofa, with fresh sand coloured linen upholstery. The construction is mostly hand-carved oak, with a delightful curved pine back and pine bottom boards. There are early hand forged Rosehead nails throughout. The sofa also has nails from the 19th and 20th century, as it had been reinforced and repaired over the years. It’s very sturdy and firm. The finish appears to be original and has been refreshed with a coat of fine museum quality wax. Definitely a fine updated example of a late 1700s sofa.

The edging and fabric give it a slightly later Regency era look with a Jane Austen feel. It’s rather small for a sofa, by modern standards. It would make a brilliant bench for the foot of a king size bed or as a foyer sofa. It’s best suited to moderate use, but definitely a sturdy old English oak piece, with a rich history.

Please feel free to ask any further questions! It’s an adorable piece, which could suit many locations in a dwelling.

SOLD

A handmade English Oak Neoclassical chair from the Edwardian Period. The hand-carved details are fantastic. The seating surface and seat back, have a Neoclassical styled figure embossed into the leather. There is a small torn area in the leather seating surface, which doesn’t affect the integrity of the chair. You’ll notice, the chair legs are slightly irregular and signs of hand construction are present. The Shellac finish appears to be old, but in fine condition.

With the slight irregularities in the legs and bracing, the chair is very solid and rather smart looking. A full sized adult can comfortably sit in this chair.

I could see the chair used for an entry hall or placed next to a small table. It has a lot of character and the details are interesting to look at.

The chair will ship by UPS. Please be in contact for shipping charges to your location. International shipping is offered. Buyer is responsible for shipping & handling charges. All furnishings ship with a great deal of care, and are insured for the full sale price.
